چکیده

We have carried out observations of the starless core L1544 in the CCS (JN = 32−21) line at 9 millimeters wavelength using the BIMA array. The maps show an elongated condensation, 0.15 × 0.045 pc in size, with stronger emission at the edges. The appearance is consistent with a flattened, ringlike structure viewed at high inclination to the line of sight. The CCS molecule is likely heavily depleted in the inner part of the core. The position velocity diagram along the major axis shows a remarkable pattern, a “tilted ellipse”, that can be reproduced by a simple model ring with motions of both infall and rotation. The models suggest comparable velocities for infall and rotation, ∼0.1 km s, in the outermost envelope, at radius 15000 AU. A High Resolution Study of the Slowly Contracting, Starless Core L1544

We present interferometric observations of N2H (1–0) in the starless, dense core L1544 in Taurus. Red-shifted self-absorption, indicative of inward motions, is found toward the center of an elongated core. The data are fit by a nonspherical model consisting of two isothermal, rotating, centrally condensed layers. Through a hybrid global-individual fit to the spectra, we map the variation of inf...

Se p 20 05 A high resolution comparative study of the slowly contracting , starless cores , L 694 - 2 and L 1544

We present interferometric observations of N2H (1–0) in the starless, dense core L694-2 and compare them to previously published maps of L1544. Both cores are starless, centrally condensed, and show spectral signatures of rotation and collapse. We fit radially averaged spectra using a two-layer infall model and measure the variation of opacity and infall speed in each core. Both functions incre...

A Coupled Dynamical and Chemical Model of Starless Cores of Magnetized Molecular Clouds: I. Formulation and Initial Results

We develop a detailed chemical model for the starless cores of strongly magnetized molecular clouds, with the ambipolar diffusion-driven dynamic evolution of the clouds coupled to the chemistry through ion abundances. We concentrate on two representative model clouds in this initial study, one with magnetic fields and the other without. The model predictions on the peak values and spatial distr...

L1521E: A Starless Core in the Early Evolutionary Stage ?

We have studied the physical and chemical properties of a quiescent starless core L1521E with various molecular lines. It is found that there exists a compact dense core traced by the HCO, HNC, CCS, and HC3N lines; their distributions have a single peak at the same position. The core radius is as small as 0.031 pc, whereas the H2 density at the peak position is as high as (1.3-5.6)×105 cm−3. Al...

Structure and dynamics of the class I young stellar object L 1489 IRS

Context. During protostellar collapse, conservation of angular momentum leads to the formation of an accretion disc. Little is known observationally about how and when the velocity field around the protostar shifts from infall-dominated to rotation-dominated. Aims. We investigate this transition in the low-mass protostar L1489 IRS, which is known to be embedded in a flattened, disc-like structu...
